Happy Friday Friends! The weather outside is frightful indeed, but the prospect of the next couple of weeks is delightful. We have Christmas next weekend followed a week later by the New Year. This is my favorite time of the year, because it is a great time to spend with family and friends. On top of that, the food and final flurry of college foootball is a nice backdrop to all of the festivities. Even a patch of nasty weather can’t keep me down. Where does the time go? Read the rest of this entry »

A huge crowd gathered this morning to attend a public ceremony for the dedication of a memorial on Monroe Street just East of the depot. As I see the crowd grow in anticipation of the annual parade, I realize that I probably do not have to remind anyone how important our veterans have been to our freedom and our way of life. Our veterans have made many sacrifices to help ensure that we can have the things that we sometimes take for granted. It is certainly a happy day when we see an outpouring of support for those who have so selflessly supported us. I hope you all get a chance today to thank a veteran for their service.
